Self-Doubt: A Superpower to Harness
Self-doubt is your superpower. So let’s reframe how we see self-doubt and how we use it. If we allow self-doubt to be the parasite that comes in and brings us down, causing our confidence to plummet, that’s not ideal. However, if we use the awareness of self-doubt as a trigger to propel us forward, that is something entirely different. Overcoming self-doubt can completely change how we approach challenges and opportunities.
Understanding the Role of Self-Doubt
Let’s get deep into self-doubt. Overcoming it is essential because it acts as an internal enemy, no matter what you do in this world. Whatever your mission is, if self-doubt is present, it’s stopping your forward progression. Self-doubt loves to keep you in your comfort zone so you feel safe. However, this self-doubt-created comfort zone is not a permanent state of being. You may find yourself progressing forward with confidence to a completely new level, and then self-doubt reappears.
The Invisible Battle of Self-Doubt
Self-doubt is practically invisible to others around you. Many people may never know of your internal struggle, just as we don’t know others’ internal struggles with self-doubt. So how do we break the chains of self-doubt? How do we free ourselves from this limiting feeling? As I mentioned before, if we use it as fuel for infinite possibilities, we can turn the negativity into motivation, transforming self-doubt into something that drives us.
Shifting Your Perspective to Overcome Self-Doubt
Overcoming self-doubt is all about changing your perspective. Did you know that your emotions create your future? Emotions directly affect your vibrational frequency because they are part of it. Your emotions are not who you are, but they influence how you are vibrating, resonating, and how people perceive you at any given time. If you’re feeling down, your vibrational frequency is likely low. Conversely, if you’re feeling love and joy, your vibrational frequency is high.
Turning Self-Doubt into Positive Energy
When you doubt yourself, you feel bad, right? It’s like a downward spiral unless you catch it and turn it around. Let’s think about joy. When you feel joy, you are at a higher vibrational frequency. Overcoming self-doubt allows you to experience the joy that is your natural state. Joy resides at a 540 frequency on David Hawkins’ scale, which is above love (500). As human beings, we are infinite beings in a body, and our natural state is joy and love. If we’re not feeling joy and love, something is blocking it.
Releasing Negative Energy and Embracing Self-Love
To return to our natural state of joy, we must release things that bring us down—negative energy, draining people, or situations. Overcoming self-doubt fits perfectly into this process: when we are filled with love and joy, self-doubt cannot exist. Let’s replace self-doubt with self-love.
Every time you have a self-doubt thought, reframe it to one of self-love. For example, instead of saying “I can’t do this. I’m not good enough,” say, “Yes, I can! I am worthy!” When you take that step forward, you align yourself with the support of the universe, helping you succeed. Self-doubt may try to keep us down—when it’s cold, rainy, and we don’t want to get up—but that’s the moment to kick self-doubt out and replace it with self-love and confidence.
Building Confidence to Overcome Self-Doubt
As the saying goes, like attracts like. When we experience self-doubt, it tends to attract more self-doubt unless we reframe it and turn it into fuel. The time to overcome self-doubt is now. What’s the opposite of self-doubt? Confidence and self-love. When you have confidence, there is no space for self-doubt. Self-love, filled with compassion, also leaves no room for self-doubt.
The Power of Confidence and Self-Love
Believe in everything you do and the people you help. You are worthy, you are enough, and you are love. Every step you take, the way you present yourself, the way you greet others—all these are expressions of your confidence. Your unique energy shines through, and by doing so, you set an example for others: “Hey, I can do that too!” By raising your vibration and showing up with confidence and love, you inspire others to do the same.
Practicing Daily Confidence
Confidence is a skill that needs to be developed daily, like a muscle. It is your shield against self-doubt. When you’re feeling confident, the little things in life will no longer bother you, and things will naturally fall into place. Radiating confidence attracts more positivity, and you become aligned with your mission and your true self.
If you believe in yourself, the world will believe in you. Take charge and lead your life like the confident person you are. A helpful practice is to keep a journal where you write down the self-doubts you experience each day and transform them into affirmations or empowering questions.
Reframing Self-Doubt: A Daily Practice
For example, if you have the thought, “I’m not good enough,” transform it into: “I am enough, and I can do this!” Another approach could be to ask: “Why am I feeling so confident today? What’s different?” This practice of self-reflection helps shift the negative mindset to one that is empowering.
Love yourself for who you are right now. Celebrate your actions—getting out of bed, helping others, and being present. This self-love helps to cultivate confidence. Thoughts hold vibrational energy, so it’s important to keep your energy high by focusing on positive affirmations.
How to Cultivate Confidence Every Day
To build confidence, do more of what makes you feel confident. Whether it’s exercising, playing an instrument, or engaging in creative activities, keep moving forward despite the self-doubt that may arise. Set aside time each day to focus on these activities that light you up.
A great practice is to align yourself with your goals as soon as you wake up. Create boundaries to stay focused on your daily tasks that nurture your confidence. The more consistent you are, the easier it will be to maintain your momentum.
Intuition: A soft, still voice
The gentle voice of your intuition has the power to stretch you beyond your comfort zone, but never more than you are capable of. It will challenge you, but also support you. It always has your best interests at heart, at every level: physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually.
Your intuition will not only gently nudge you in scary directions which will yield huge and unimaginable rewards, but it will also gently nudge you when it’s time to stop or turn around.
